8 Ways to use Geranium Oil for Health, Beauty and Wellness! - Inspire Me Naturally

Geranium oil has countless benefits for health, beauty and wellness. From nourishing skin and hair treatments to stress relief and emotional support, this sweet-smelling oil should be a staple in your essential oil kit.

Read on as we share 8 of our favourite ways to use geranium oil, including some simple DIY remedies to try at home.

Geranium oil for clear skin

Geranium oil is widely known as one of the best oils to promote clear, healthy skin. In fact, this floral oil has been used topically since Ancient Egyptian times when it’s potential was discovered for healing and toning the skin.

To prevent breakouts, simply add 1-2 drops of geranium oil to your facial moisturiser and apply as usual. For spot treatments, apply geranium oil directly to the affected area after cleansing using a q-tip or cotton ball.

Geranium oil for anti-aging

Being a natural astringent, geranium oil is a wonderful anti-aging treatment and can help to tighten facial skin and smooth the appearance of wrinkles. For a nourishing anti-aging skin treatment, you can create your own natural serum by filling a small amber bottle with a carrier oil like jojoba or rosehip, and add 4-5 drops of geranium oil. Massage gently into the skin each night after cleansing and moisturising.

Geranium oil for hair health

Geranium oil is packed with antioxidants, which makes it ideal for repairing and strengthening damaged hair follicles and strands. If you struggle with oily skin, geranium oil also helps to balance the PH levels of the scalp to regulate sebum production.

Create your own moisturising hair mask by simply mixing 5-10 drops of geranium oil with ½ cup of coconut oil. Massage gently into hair from roots to ends, and leave to sit for 20-30 minutes before washing as usual.

You can also add a few drops of geranium oil to your regular shampoo to assist with deep-cleansing of the scalp.

Geranium oil for natural perfume

Geranium oil is best known for its sweet floral scent, which is why we love to use geranium oil as a natural perfume!

Create your very own DIY perfume using a small roller bottle filled with 90 ml of a carrier oil like jojoba oil. Add 15 drops each of cedarwood oil, geranium oil and sage oil for a light, floral and fresh everyday fragrance.

Geranium oil for stress relief

Geranium oil has wonderful calming and grounding properties and can be used to support our emotional health. To help reduce stress, tension and anxiety, diffuse geranium oil throughout your home or workspace using an essential oil diffuser. Or, add a few drops of geranium oil to your favourite aromatherapy necklace or bracelet

Geranium oil for massage

With its soothing and skin-nourishing properties, Geranium oil is the perfect oil for a gentle body massage. Simply mix this floral oil with a carrier oil and massage gently into your skin. The calming effects of geranium oil will also help to ground your emotions while relieving tension and sore muscles.

Geranium oil for natural deodorant

Geranium is a circulatory oil, which means it absorbs quickly and exits the skin through perspiration. Geranium oil is also naturally antibacterial, helping to eliminate body odour. You can use geranium oil as a natural, sweet-smelling deodorant by mixing 3 tablespoons of witch hazel, 2 teaspoons of magnesium oil and 15 drops of essential oils in a glass spray bottle.

Geranium oil for insect repellant

Not just a beauty staple, geranium oil can also help you keep your home pest-free, too! Geranium oil can help to repel small insects like fleas, mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants and ticks. Fill a spray bottle with distilled water and add a few drops of geranium oil for your very own natural insect repellent.
