Essential Oils to Help Relieve Stress

by Janice FERGUSON on Jan 30, 2016

This is the third installment of our essential oils series. See our previous blog posts to read about which Essential Oils to use to help Relieve the Symptoms of a Cold or Flu or Help You Sleep. Next week, we’ll take a look at another common reason to use Essential Oils - improving memory and stimulating your mental faculties, but today, we’re talking about how to relieve stress.

Using the right essential oils can help you regain control of most aspects of your health and well being. The right essential oils can promote relaxation and relieve nervous tension, it’s all about knowing which oils to use, and how to make the most of their powerful essence.

Here is a basic guide to our top 3 "stress assistance” essential oils:

Geranium - Geranium eases anxiety, helps relieve nervous tension, promotes wellbeing and creates an overall sense of calm in your environment. Geranium blends beautifully with other oils so add a few drops to your favourite scent in a burner to create a calming ambiance in your home or office.

Frankincense - A common choice as a meditation oil because of its relaxation qualities, frankincense is great for lowering anxiety levels and helping to control depressive behaviour by increasing blood flow in your body. Add some to an infuser to create a stress free area in your home.

Coriander - If you suffer from stress related tension in your neck or shoulders then coriander is a great choice to help you relax. Add the oil to a cold compress, or combine a few drops to some coconut oil to create a massage oil. Massage into your neck, shoulders or temples to relieve tension related aches and pains.
